New Fridge Freezer – £500ish

Hi,

After deciding against repairing my Zanussi ZRB324NXO I’ve decided to buy a new fridge freezer.

I don’t want to fall into the same trap and buy cheap, only to regret it later. So I’ve been looking at Siemans and Bosch. Unfortunately Liebherr and Miele are little above budget.

In particular I’ve eyed the Siemans with 5 year warranties. As I read somewhere that the items with longer manufacturer warranties are usually better put together (as opposed to getting a machine with 2 years warranty and springing extra for additional warranty from the retailer). Is this in general a good way to shop?

2 models which have caught my eye and fit my needs are the KG39NVI32G and KG36DVI30G:

The only technical difference aside from the size and water dispenser appears to be the “Thermometer freeze section”. The 36 has a digital one and the 39 is analogue. Is one superior to the other?

I’ve also noticed a well spec’d and priced Samsung with 5 year warranty. The RL60GZEIH. However I’ve never like Samsung products – always well spec’d on paper but reality more often than not they are poorly put together. Am I right to ignore them – or is this a decent fridge?

Finally any other recommendations? My requirements:

– Budget ~£500 (I have a friend who works for an online retailer and can get 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off too so as long as they stock it ~£550 is doable).
– Black or silver.
– 60-70cm wide, less than 66cm deep, height a non issue within reason.
– 5 year warranty.
– No plumbing – don’t mind a water dispenser, but that usually takes up half the bottom door shelf so ideally would want a fridge without.
– No frost freezer.
– Door alarm.

Basically want a good fridge that will last.

Stay with the Bosch or the Siemens (same company). Leave the Samsung well alone.

Thanks, I think I’ll go with the KG39NVI32G – has the 5 years warranty and no water dispenser (more door shelf space) and ticks all the other boxes.

Looking forward to NOT playing sour milk ro ulette every morning! Ha.
