New ISE 5 questions.

I am delivering my first of the new ISE 5 tomorrow and so I thought I would connect it up to see how it all works.
First of all, it’s lovely and quiet!! The design is easier to sell as it bears no particular reference to any other machine unlike the previous Arcelik type.

The questions I have are:-

The spin only setting says in the book ‘normal spin’ – display shows 10 mins. But when set to a 1600 spin only, the machine will spin for 4 minutes, probably getting to about 1000 spin. Then the motor stops and the display counts down to ‘End’ in less than 2 mins. (ie:- until the interlock releases). Is this right? I have tried both of the machines I have here and they both do the same. Most customers selecting a spin only at 1600 would expect a long very fast spin. This doesn’t happen. Any ideas?? 😕

I clicked through the cycles and the wash times shown on the display are completely different from the wash times shown in the manual. The book says Cotton 90 = 1.41: display reads 2.21. Cotton 40 = 95mins (book) and the display shows 1.35. I have seen the cycle times memo on page 6, but even with that in mind, the timings are very different.
Was the manual written for the ISE 2 and converted? I only say that because the book mentions “the ISE 2” on pages 6 and 7.

Hi Steve,

Are you testing the spin function with a full load or empty ?

The times quoted in the manual are for the basic set programe and do not include any additional options.

I think you’ll find that the cotton 40 quoting 95 mins or 1.35 hrs are one and the same.

Remember guys I timed the proto type machine, so if there are any vast differences with the production machines then we need to know asap.

It’s a sorta fuzzy logic Steve, it will change it’s mind in use. 😉

There are a couple of references to the 2 in there as some of it, including the format, was carried over to the 5 but they will vanish either the next container of the one after.

What Sean’s on about is that, if it has no load to sort then it will fly through the cycle and all the times are marked as approximate as they will, as we all know, differ from installation to installation.

I tried it empty – so I wouldn’t have to unstrap it. 😉
The time display must work the same as the Zanussi – starts a cycle, then suddenly knocks off 20 mins in one go. Gotcha!! This lady has been waiting for this machine while her Hoover logic is (literally) falling apart, so I ran the ISE to familiarize myself with it.
Forewarned is forearmed – gotta look like you know what you’re talking about, even if it’s educated guesswork!! 😉

Installed my first ISE5 v2 yesterday.
Having sold it blind I was overall very pleased with the machine. Nice and quiet, easy controls and display lights bright enough.

Was wondering has any one tried removing the motor on the new 5 or new 2 yet???
Must be a pig to do???

I’m sure if any other manufacturer had no access panels at the back we’d be cursing them. Or is it just me again???

Loads now I’m afraid.

Cuts production costs, makes them quieter and allows the cabinet to be more rigid. In a weird way it kinda makes sense.

I think Indesit are right into this as well as others.

It’s not too bad to do but there’s a knack, like most other things we come across, once you suss it out it’s fine.

Perhaps we should have an ISE ‘Knack’ sticky. ISE2 kickplates and now 2 and 5 motors. 😉

As I’m feeling to lazy to suss it out and somebody else has gone through the process to find the ‘knack’ perhaps I could be enlightened to which is the best way to approach a motor change. 🙂

You must admit though unlike the ISE5 v1 this motor removal is not designed for the engineer in mind.
I remember when I was shown how to dismantle the ISE5 v1 there was a high emphasis on ease of repair. I know you can’t have it all ways but the point I was making was not to be awkward but was, I thought, a valid question.

K mentioned Indesit were into this sort of design but surely this is not what the ISE brand is about?
(I like most people will never be changing motors on an Indesit due to part cost.)

I hope ‘comments’ won’t be taken personally because that is not good for moral. My motor removal question was serious not inflammatory.
I haven’t had the opportunity to try so was wondering if a torx bit in a holder on a ratchet would fit in-between back panel and bolt.

All you do is lean it to the side, rather than back – plenty of room. Think plastic tank Bosch.

We don’t mind the questions at all Tim and there’s no offence taken.

It’s certainly not the Indesit route. 😉

The good thing about the new 5 and 2 is that the factory reckon that something like 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of repairs can be done from the front, often without moving the machine from situ, that can’t be bad. But on every design there’s always one or two jobs that are a pig to do and there’s not much you can do about it bar make it as easy as possible. Often simple instruction is all that’s needed at first but you guys will learn all the quick ways over time.

I do have the technical manual now which I’ll translate to real English the first chance I get. In the meantime you are welcome to it in Turklish.

Hi Tim,

I think the problem that you like the rest of us are having is that there is very little room for geting a 40 Torx bit into the end of the two motor fixing bolts nearest the back of the machine, as there is very little room to play with.

Perhaps this might help as it’s the shortest reach torx 40 bit and ratchet I could find :-
