new kitchen, new appliances..

Hi,

No doubt like so many people on here I like to feel informed as best as I can before I go off in to wilds looking for new appliances.. so all help/comments will be greatly appreciated…and after reading so much on here I am begining to feel that there is still a long way to go ( over priced cheaply made to high priced spares but long life)

So what am I looking, ideally-

dishwasher, pref integrated slimline have looked at Meile and Siemens any others worth a look… cost is lower down the list to longevity and performance

hob, leaning towards induction.. personally can’t see much difference between mftrs but more than happy to be corrected – very simplistic, but don’t they all just heat up?

integrated double oven, been told number one must have is selfclean.. again all I have found (or perhaps more rather stopped looking once I found 2) are Miele and Siemens. Had thought about double oven with the smaller being combi (inc microwave) but not sure if it’s a good idea?

Fridge, inegrated again, 3/4 high (122cm).. Siemens..as this is all I can find!

Perhaps this is way too much to ask for especially in one thread… but any guidence would be nice as I haven’t got much hair left!

Hi Garryl

We find that the best built in appliances are Neff ( from the same stable as Bosch and Siemens), you don`t pay Miele prices but you get products which are well made, have a two year warranty, are easy to use and look good at the same time. Kitchen installers like them too as they are easy to install 😉

I would personally keep with a good ceramic perhaps frameless and touch control like the T1323X0.

For induction hobs you will need to ensure good ventilation around the hob and magnetic saucepans are required for the hob to function.

There are quite a few double built in ovens depending on functions. The U1322 is a good basic oven followed by the U1422 and then the U1442 these are available in most colours.

What you could do is install a single oven with a full size built in combi microwave over it, we chose this option last year when we refitted our kitchen

Quite a few other manufacturers produce a whole range of integrated appliances like Hotpoint, Indesit, AEG, Zanussi just to name a few 😉

Thanks for the reply… this is were I hang my head in shame… I avoided Neff as many folks I spoke always said naf Neff.. a few had Neff but I have a feeling many others heard the phrase and didn’t even look at at but as I couldn’t be sure thought the safest bet was also to avoid. That said as you’ve had good experience I feel I should break from the heard and take a better look for myself!

Hi Garryl,

I’ve recently done a blog post on the top kitchen appliances, voted for by shoppers. Miele did come up top in the washing machines (Miele W 3922 WPS SOFTRONIC) and the dishwashers (Miele G1222SC).

The top fridge came out as the Beko AB910s. You can see what other things came out top here.

You can take notice of ‘reviews’ that don’t appear to list their sources, or you can take advice from a site that has over a thousand trade members, many with 30 to 40 years experience in the trade. The lads & lasses who actually have to repair these machines when they go wrong.

Your choice but I know who I would take advice from. 😉

All info is good… and the info I am getting from here is excellent! however I just wish it was the case of only two choices white or black! rather than the thousands, make, model colour functions..and on and on it goes. That said I am getting to realise that nearly all manufactures offer similar things.. eg pyroclean etc and the main difference is styling, and alas to the better half that counts. Still not all lost miele was her first choice, as we have a waher/dryer and it’s brill (and before I knew about this site!) but now we are looking at neff and siemens. Now she has the taste for the neff and siemens style she is looking to compliment it with a cool extractor.. design mags really should be banned! lol

So the hunt continues, but at least I am now armed with a fantastic bunch of people all brimming with info..

As someone working for a kitchen designer who deals with neff and miele appliances, i would recomend Miele anyday. They are better quality than Neff, especially if you are looking for reliability and performance. Miele dishwashers are practically best on the market, and you can’t go wrong buying any Miele appliance, since they were awarded Which? Best Appliance Brand of 2007.

Go for the Miele, anything else really is a compromise! 😉

Concerning Miele though !! They dont make all their appliances themselves,they also buy and badge the appliances also.

I have a gas on glass which requires a new glass top but have been informed that the manufacturers no longer supply the glass and its a new hob required after 3 years…Not happy and miele’s response Oh well.

Arh, but you see, Miele appliances are not designed to break down, surely the 20 year design life should tell you that? As, i have said before the electronics and drives are made by Miele, that is why they can offer long guarantees on their components and machines.

Neither are Mercedes, but they still do. Every machine WILL break at some point, it’s only a question of when and how much to put it right. The latter, with Miele, is simply extortionate frankly.
