Participant😀 morning all!
i’ve not to this lovely place, well, since the last time you guys were so helpful! 🙂
my eight & half year old Bosch SGS5312GB/12 gave up on me the other night, the PCB (i think?!) was replaced when it was just past it’s 2 year warranty (typical eh? :rolls: ), so i’ve probably had my £350 worth out of it!
after a bit of surfing the www & reading on here, i’ve taken the plunge & ordered a Miele. the price was a bit 😯 , but i did manage to get some money off to soften the blow, a little!
well, it seemed silly to spend at least £400 on a new machine (from your info & which? reviews, i wouldn’t waste my money on anything less) that might only last 2-5 years, when for another £185, i’ll hopefully be getting a rolls royce/mercedes! 😉
anyway (forgive me, i’m female & we take a while to get to the point! 😆 ), i do believe the Miele is hot &/or cold fill? i’m pretty sure the Boasch was cold only so, what’s the benefits of hot fill? & what would you guys recommend?
many thanks for any comments 😀

Hi Lexxy,
I don’t recommend hot fill.
I know some people do this and it appears to work for them but the detergents are not designed to be used that way as they work on a temperature curve, just as they do on washers, so that different elements come into play at different temperatures as it heats up. Using hot fill can kill that mechanism from working and result in poor performance.
This is especially the case with hard pressed tablets in my experience where they may also not dissolve correctly as the wash runs too fast to do it.

Hi
We used our miele on cold for 3 years, hot for 7, then back to cold in different houses and have noticed no difference in wash standards except of course the energy bills! According to the documentation Miele seem to have built program and technology in to handle either but I may be wrong
I should point out that (as per other post) I did ensure that the hot water was not too hot and we had good hot pressure as per the manual. I would do it again if the fuel economics made sense. The best thing was the hot prewash! Cold prewash always seems to turn stinky very soon afterwards if you are not around to set the main wash going. I guess hot inlet is for nerdy types like me 😕
