KeymasterYou may have noticed that Martin has been added as a moderator for many of the public forums. Well, Penguin45 has been added as a moderator for some of the trade forums as well.
The reason is that these two retrabates read the forums avidly scanning every post there and they are there almost every day without fail. Since Dave and I can’t be here every minute of every day and we’ve been a bit busy, we decided it was best to share the load a bit, kindly both have agreed very graciously to lend a hand.
This is just letting everyone know about it and why and a “thank you” to both Martin and P45 for agreeing to help.

For those of us unfamilular with the workings of this new fangled internet thingy what does a ‘moderator ‘ do ?

KeymasterEssentially, they monitor the forums for any errors, spam or double postings and that sort of thing. On some forums they will be called upon to settle disagreements or stop people getting out of order, thankfully its something we’ve never seen on UKW and I neither expect or hope never to see it either.
Other than that, people can use the mods as a point of contact for any issues they may have, technical or otherwise but the technical ones would likely get kicked back to me anyway.
With the site getting as busy as it has been it makes a lot of sense to delegate some of the responsibility of running the forums and to give people more choice in contacts. The idea is that it speeds up any of the proccesses described as the load is shared.

Can I just say,
Excellent choice of both parties here.
I know Martin somtimes writes an epistle at times, (no offence mate), but I can see he looks into and takes an active interest in all posts, no matter how trivial they may appear.
Penquin, (P45) I’m sure will be dealing with the out of hours and midnight oil burners, does he ever go to bed?

My epistle writing days are over Alex, you see before you now a ‘Moderator’ in every way, and hopefully many will benefit from my dedication to UKW 😉

Good god Martin – this is going to cramp your style, you’ll have to be diplomatic now old mate. Whatever, don’t lose the dry humour. Best of luck – Bonz

What a cracking decision by Ken and the team to decide on these two gentlemen. Both post with humour, tact and enjoy good banter, long may it continue. I have noticed on the forums this morning that demo has been appointed as a moderator well so well done you. But wot no kwatt as moderator can it be true that the members have finally got to him and he`s handed it over . I am hearing rumblings from beyond Hadrians wall, me thinks I should go and hide quickly .

Don

KeymasterDemo, is the account I use for playing with Don and checking stuff, it will disappear again soon enough. And I’ve never been listed as a mod as I’m overall site admin. 😉

May I have the pleasure of introducing a new Moderator to the ever strengthening team and one of UKW’s great assets: –
😀 Eastlmark 😀
Mark, single handedly on many occasions, has helped out both trade and public alike since the outset of UKW back in the summer of 2003. And no doubt will continue to do so in his new role as Moderator 😀
Welcome aboard Mark!

Thank you Martin and Eddie.
Eddie, for the record, was our first ever employee, way back in the 70’s, before me infact and I owe a lot of what I know to him…. and he is probably partly to blame for me still being here. Thanks again! (even though he seems to have become a bloody northerner)
