    Hi.

How do I extract the brushes please? — Are they held in by the inner motor case or ?

Probably cheaper to find a tame sparks rather than be ripped off by some daft pricing ——- assuming they can be bought of course?

Is there one in the Farnham Surey area — long shot but worth a try

Sorry, hope my ‘angle of attack’ is ok for this forum 😀

    TIA

    Zap.

    Hi Zaphod,

IIRC they can’t be exacted 🙁

And if they can, they’re not provided as a spare by VAX. Unfortunatly, it’s the industry standard in vacuum cleaners, that carbon brushes aren’t provided, just entire motors.

Are you sure the brushes are faulty? What’s the symptons? Have you exacted the motor?

If you having a look, make sure the machine is unplugged! :zap:

    Hi Goatboy & thxs.

Yes the motor would not always start, so stripped down to it, gave brushes a prod & it was fine. Then it starts to slow & you can see the front brush sparking — give a tap (no, not with a metal end!) & all is fine again.

Guess I will have to find a scrap motor someplace as I refuse to be a captive market victim wherever possible 👿 🙄

    :rotl:

A new motor from VAX is £70ish, but Dave might be able to get a non-genuine motor cheaper than that 😉

    Give him an email…

Thxs GB, but I will have a major psycho-wallet problem with any repair cost.
I only paid £6 for the thing! 😀

I will go into ‘nothing-to-lose’ final attack mode shortly ………….. there has to be a way ……………. the quest continues…………….

    That’s sound obminous! 😕

Errr….. Good luck? Can I recommend googles and gloves for the big hammer part of the attack?

No no, we are far more sophisticated than that. 🙄

The brush will come out………but whether or not another will replace it is another thing.
If not there is lots of useable salvage. All sorts of crap that may be useful one day…………….or not

One more very small (caravan) carpet to clean first tho’.

Shall I report my inevitable success, or keep quiet about it? 😀
