new noisy maytag – please help!

Hi,
we have just replaced a whirlpool side by side about 8 months – due to many many problems.
we now have a Maytag side by side instead – model no mc2028hxkb.
its 24 hr old now and is ‘humming’ noticibly! it stops when the fridge door is opened.
the humming does seems to stop occasionally. Is this normal? I might be being paranoid because of all the problems we had we our other fridge!

It’s what I would expect to hear 😆

(but I’m not a fridge engineer!)
I’d expect to hear the compressor cutting in and out, maybe accompanied by the odd “sigh” or gurgle (blame the new eco-friendly refrigerants!) also,probably, a circulating fan (or 2) running intermittently.

The noises should bear a relationship to the displayed temperatures., …..when you open the door, you don’t want to fill the kitchen with a fridge-full of cold air! hence, the cutout.

Wait while the professionals say I’m talking tosh! 😳

Hi

You should hear a faint whirl but not really noticably.when you are opening the door this is switching off the fan which in turn stops circulation the warm air round your fridge & freezer.

If it is noticable above the compressor sound then there will be something wrong with it as you shouldnt hear it much.

Also bear in mind it is the same manufacturer as your old one,same body different clothes.

The MC2028HXKB should have a 5 yr warranty. Get it sorted.
