ParticipantWe have gone to fit a single electric oven and the shape of the new oven means the gas pipe to the hob stops it from sitting flush.
Is there an oven specification that allows for this when buying or is it just unlucky

Moderatorhad this a few times. It seems manufacturers are trying to make the cooking areas bigger and therefore maximize the space in the unit
what oven did you buy /

ModeratorI get this almost every day 🙁 the best ones I know of is the Indesit IFV5Y0IX as it has the cut away to allow for the gas pipe. Or you keep what you have and have the gas pipe reconfigured to fit around the new oven.

Thanks Don, I thought there was a spec to choose. Currys have a filter option for “flat back ovens” which I thought might be an indicator of something am missing. Turns an easy job into a pain!

Thanks Dave, it was an Indesit. Turns out the gas pipe was using a water valve to turn on and off so lucky we noticed really!

ParticipantI come across this so often and struggle to find a suitable oven to fit with a ‘cut away’ to allow for the gas pipe. Beko seem to be a safe choice with their Diagonal cutaway at the top ro allow for pipework but they are also a quite a deep oven and as found out yesterday a cabinet that has been badly installed with a 54cm depth just isn’t good enough and turned a simple install into a sweaty nightmare

ParticipantRegular issue, usually tell them to get a gas man round to sort the gas elbow out.
