Hello,

Am considering buying a tumble dryer for the first time ever as drying clothes this summer has proven to be challenging to say the least. I always line dry but have had to use airing racks when its rained non stop. I would mainly use a dryer for towels, bedding, underwear and socks plus any thing else that you can tumble dry. What type of dryer is best condenser or vented? I also don’t want a huge electricity bill so should i opt for a B rated model and what brands? Any advice great appreciated.

Heat pump dryers are the cheapest to use but are more expensive than the other two types. In time this will be the only choice you will have.

Vented are the cheapest to buy but use more electricity, something like the Indesit IDV75 basic dryer is a good little workhorse and easy to repair. Condenser dryers are the middle road in price, don’t need venting and you can have sensor models which will monitor the dryness level and turn the heater off when dryness level is achieved therefore saving money.

All in all condenser dryer with sensors is the way to go.

don i just had a look at the Indesit dryer and that is more than enough for what i want. Seems to get good reviews. I think vented for me is best as i would put in a shed or porch. Thanks for your reply.

it seems as though the IDV75 has been discontinued according to this page: https://www.indesit.co.uk/indesit-ec…hite-f074628/p

They still have the 8kg vented model though (I1 D80W).
