Hoover and hotpoint are the worse for reliability apparantly, with a third needing repairs in the first 6 years.
where do they get their information from?
what constitutes a repair “remove sock from hoover washerdryer”, or fit pcb to bosch £168.33 +vat+labour.June 14, 2007 at 9:01 pm #217047suedehead1

I would go for a Bosch, or Siemens if you can find one. Both are identical machines, with colour differences only. This does only apply to the washer dryers though.
(That is as the Miele’s are beyond your range)As for Hoover’s, I would rather wash my clothes in the Ganges 😕

oh sorry welcome to the anti british manufacturers website another unhelpful comment, i wonder why people come here for advice why dont we just set up an automated reply system “buy bosch”.
is it any surprise very few things are manufactured in britain.
i am sure when they close down land rover and jaguar you will be saying “isnt that terrible” well its time we got behind british industry and stopped supporting the germans or should i say the polish and spanish in bosches case.June 14, 2007 at 10:15 pm #217050suedehead1

wow, didn’t realise I was going to start a pro/anti british debate… I just want a washer dryer 🙂
Looking into the reliability, it looks like it was a survey of about 900 owners.. maybe not the best way to do it, but is the best I have found on the net.
I can’t see any shops I’ve heard of selling the HNWF7137

I would be cautious of Hoover appliances.
They are built in Britain, but with Italian (Candy) parts.
There have been problems in the past with clogging of ducts in the Hoover washerdriers, according to other posters on this forum.
There has apparently been a lack of information concerning technical assistance, for non-Hoover personnel (Joe Public included).
I have noticed that Hoover Italy has certain machines for sale (top-end dishwasher), that are not available in the UK. We have to make do with mid-range models.
Poor show, all round.

What? Hoover actually have a higher end range? No, it can’t be possible not with all the junk we get. Just to point out, is that washer dryers with a large dry load are utterly pointless, as they take ages to dry rather than 2 halfs which don’t take long to dry.

ParticipantI’m very impressed with the Zan ZWD1480 I bought a couple of years back. I’d happily recommend it or it’s AEG sibling.
