My Hotpoint WD640P died after just over a year and a half of use. Luckily it was under warranty and am getting a full refund.

I’m looking for a replacement (there is no room for seperates) and have a baby due in 3 weeks, so a washer dryer is needed to clean and dry our baby stained clothes.

I’m trying to find one that is reliable and reasonably quiet, but every single washer dryer is rubbish according to the reviews I read.

Surely someone makes a decent one? Can someone point me in the right direction? I’m looking to spend around £400

    Thanks for any advice

Well then at that limited budget you have a problem? Stick another £100 plus to it and go for Zanussi is the better solution. 😉

If you can stretch to a grand, you can get a Miele one, which are the ‘Rolls Royce’ of washer dryers and have a full 10 years warranty.

Or the Bosch WVD24520GB, it has the advantage of having a two year warranty.

Thanks, I can stretch another £100, but I think the Miele is a bit out of my range…

The Zanussi ZWD1472 or ZWD1662 are around £400… any experience with those?

Zanussi’s are quite decent, their about middle range, and will give you better service than the Servis, Hotpoint, Hoover/Candy, Indesit and Ariston tat.

I take it that ZWD1662 should be the ZWD1682 😉 . Both are good machines. You can compare the two models on the website which will hopefully help you come to a decision.

ZWD1662W according to comet website. I guess the 1682 is a new version of it? it appears to have a larger wash load and a “turbo dry plus” circuit

Looking at it here http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/prod … sku=352780 I would guess that the 1662 is an exclusive to Comet of the 1472 but with the 1600 spin. Whereas the 1682 is from the timeline range with the slightly larger capacity of 7kg.

    Thanks for all the help.

I just signed up for a which account, the Zanussi ZWD1471W reads quite well apart from poor rinsing (although they all seem to have poor marks for rinsing) was in the 3 best buys, along with the Miele WT2670(too expensive) and the AEG Electrolux L16830

Anyone got any experience with the AEG?

looks like a toss up between the 2?

    Cheers

    Re: New washer dryer

i just installed a hoover 7.5kg wash/5kg dry, HNWF7137 washerdryer it had a variable temperature control on the wash side, 3 quick wash programs, timed and sensor drying and a 5 year parts guarantee all for a lot less than £400.
but then ive been in the trade for 18 years and my father for 35 years before me what do i know?
there is no better machine for that money.
and they are a lot easier to fix and cheaper parts than zanussi, miele bosch etc. AEG are normally zanussis in disguise.

Suedehead, AEG machines are built in Germany, not Italy, where Zanussi’s are built.

AEG are part of the electrolux group ie. electrolux, tricity, bendix and zanussi.
or in other words a zanussi in disguise regardless of where it is made.

    Re: New washer dryer

which review the miele wt2670, and is their best buy, has good results for all tests, apart from poor results for rinsing.

Hoover and hotpoint are the worse for reliability apparantly, with a third needing repairs in the first 6 years.

Am thinking of the Bosch WVT126SGB now after the reviews, Asda do it for £420
