    Hi,

I’m in the process of buying my first house, so I will soon be needing a washing machine. I’m the sort of person who likes to research things before I do them, so I’m getting quite nervous about making the right decision, it seems like there are so many things that could go wrong with washers! 😯

I have a budget of £400 so I (like several others on this forum!) am quite tempted by the Siemens WXLM148A currently on offer at John Lewis for £399 including a 5 year parts & labour warranty.

I am also interested in the ISE machine however, as I like the philosophy behind the brand and am thinking about stretching the budget – what’s another hundred quid on top of the thousands of my new mortgage?! :rolls:

The thing that’s making me hesitate though, is the lack of reviews. I can only find a couple of testimonials to the machine, and was wondering if anyone here has one and is willing to let me know what they think of it? I understand that the item has not been in production for very long, so there won’t be much info on reliability or longevity, but any comments would be appreciated! 😀

    Thanks,

    Tanya

Re: New Washer: Siemens or ISE?

    Hi Tanya,

I would say ISE of course. 😉

So far the feedback has been excellent from most everyone, it was commented on the other day in the trade forums that “customers love them!”

I put one on test with a relative and, TBH, she wouldn’t be parted from it now. She works shifts and loves the delay function and remarked that she had to go to the kitchen to check it was on sometimes or when it had finished the cycle, she didn’t have to do that with her previous Hoover as she could hear it.

On reliability and longevity, we specified the machine so that it was repairable more or less indefinitely. So we spec’d the biggest chunkiest bearings we could get, the best cabinet strength we could, the easiest to maintain we could get and so on. To my mind, there is absolutely no reason why an ISE should not easily see 10-12 years of life without too much drama at all. Plus we keep the spares, if and when required, as cheap as we possibly can.

But there’s quite a few of the guys on here sell ISE to their customers who can probably provide still more information.

    Hope that helps.

    K.

Re: New Washer: Siemens or ISE?

I have sold 16 of the ISE machines to date – 16 satisfied customers and no issues of note. It’s a solid, well made machine with flexible, simple programming. Where it scores is that when issues arise (let’s be honest, it will happen eventually), your local UKW engineer is your service agent and is carrying a full service kit on his van. You certainly won’t be waiting a week to ten days for service either.

    Regards,

Which company manufactures the ISE machines?

    Is it sourced from Bosch/Siemens?

Re: New Washer: Siemens or ISE?

    Hi Tanya,

Can I say that kwatt and I dreamed up the idea of ISE and own brand, so my answer has to be ISE.

    Here’s why.

ISE is a package, designed to be reliable, repairable, easy to use, with enviromental credentials to do our bit to save the planet. It involves your local expert on washers, he’s trained by us, supported by us, has access to all of the technical side of the product and through the sale can build asset into his business.

There is nothing wrong with your choices, indeed there are several good manufacturers out there, but our total package puts us up there with the best, in my opinion.
With 200 agents accross the country we are growing, we still have a way to go, choose us and put us to the test.

The best review is from Andy Trigg, have a look at http://www.washerhelp.co.uk, Andy has it nailed as far as impartiality is concerned.

Yes… and you failed to answer the question then. 😉

    What’s the big secret?

Who manufactures the ISE machines, and what is the country of origin?

Straightforward questions call for honest answers.

Re: New Washer: Siemens or ISE?

    There’s no secrets at all.

The ISE machine is manufactured for us, to our specification, in Turkey by a company called Beko. There is no machine the same available on the UK market bar ISE with that specification. Like anything else, you get what you pay for and we pay a substantial premium for the build quality and specification that we want, this obviously affects the selling price.

There is also no machine in the UK with the same backup or care package. Nor is there any other appliance with the same philosophy behind it.

The only questions posed of this nature was you Trilobite, no-one else and it is entirely not related to the enquiry by Tanya.

Hope that clears up any dubiety.

    K.

Re: New Washer: Siemens or ISE?

Wow, thankyou all for your replies! I will be contacting my local supplier as soon as I find out whether I’m actually getting this new house or not (****ing solicitors! 👿 )

Thankyou again, I feel a lot happier now! 😀

    Tanya
