no need to spend as much as that to get a quality machine ive been recommending hoover for years argos are selling an hp6120 washing machine for £200 they come with a 5 year parts guarantee so no need for silly warranties.
or try your local independant who probably supply, deliver and install a similar hoover machine thus saving you hassle of delivery charges and installation.
or you could also consider a washer dryer hnwl7136 at £300 from argos.

    Hi
For that money, you will be able to get a reasonable machine.
Some Miele,Siemens and ISE are in that price bracket and will give you excellent quality, reliability and customer support; unlike some other more well known brands for similar or less money.

Be cautious when considering Hoover, Hotpoint, Indesit, Ariston, Candy, and Servis. They seem to fail often: just look at the postings on this forum; and the quality is just not there these days.

Bosch (and possibly Siemens) models have a 2-year guarantee. Or the ISE model (own brand) has a 5-year guarantee.

I agree with trilobite having had a couple of hoover appliances they arent made like they used to be! Not impressed with them and wont buy again. The 5yr parts warranty isnt as great as you think as you have to pay Hoovers labour charges and callout (high). I got my Hoover fixed cheaper by a local repair guy in any case even though I had that warranty (although this depends how expensive the parts are which fail).

I have been researching and looking around myself having to buy a new tumble drier and washing m/c imminently. My belief is Miele stuff is best (at £500+). If you cant afford this (which I cant) then also consider Bosch / Siemens as Trilo says. I personally like Electrolux brand stuff (AEG, Zanussi & co) as they seem well made and priced reasonably. My last Zanussi washing m/c lasted 12yrs and we run it 6 nights a week for last few yrs with 3 kids!

John Lewis own brand stuff seems good as it is made by Electrolux group but you get 3yr warranty and John Lewis support is good…. Basix washer it think is £300 but has a decent amount of feature. 1200rpm Zanussi something like £240…..

BTW I am not an expert like many of the service engineers on this site so above is only my personal experience as a punter (although I am a mechanical engineer so believe I have a feel for whether things are designed robustly or not)…….
