PS – the length of the programmes will obviously vary with the amount of washing but i will tell you what is in the load and post the time with and without higher water level and with and without the 7 rinses. I dont really want to set mine up with 5 rinses in case i forget and leave them on there, quite possible with me :rolls:

Hi Quickwash,
Thank you so very much for doing this. I really cannot thank you enough. :worthy:
Jim has sent me a copy of the manual so I know how it works and what the functions do. But it does not say how high the water goes or how much time extra rinses add.
I am more than impressed with what I have so far found out and if the higher water level checks out OK I will be ordering an ISE10 next week as my Bosch is dropping bits of drum spider all over my clothes. 🙂
Thanks once again,
Oliver.

Hi again oliver,
Right what i just tried was this:
Firstly i tried the machine empty and with the damp clothes i just removed being – 2 pairs jogging trousers, 1 pair jeans, 2 t-shirts, 1 towel, 1 flannel, 1 shirt, 3 pairs sock and 2 pairs of undies. And the actual times were the same with and without load.
So loaded with all that damp washing the results are:
Normal cotton wash at 60o – 131
Normal cotton wash at 60o + H W L – 131 no increase 😀
Normal cotton wash at 60o + H W L + 7 rinses – 141 not bad 😀I will do the higher water level wash tomorrow and see level of water.
I dont know what you think as i am a bit of a layman, well woman, on this sort of thing but there must be quite a lot of water in the machine for it to reach the edge of the door surround on a normal rinse with the drum being so big, or am i being a bit thick 😕

Hi Quickwash,
Thank you for that.
The wash times are definatley an acceptable length, not this 2-3 hour rubbish common on the lesser modern machine.
Yes I agree from the pictures there must be alot of water in the drum to reach the door surround. The Bosch has a 5KG drum so it maybe a similar amount. 😀
I wonder if the washtime with a higher water level is the same as it shortens the wash. The Bosch will do this, if higher water level (the Bosch has this exact button too) is selected into wash, even though it has more water to heat which takes longer it decreases wash time as the clothes come clean easier in more water, it also reduces agitation too. This was also noticed on Miele machines with Water Plus selected in the mainwash phase. I find it washes better with more water in the wash, that could be personal prefernce though. When I was a child we had a Servis Quartz which filled 1/4 up the door to wash and 1/2 to rinse, I think this was the reason why I like to see more water in the prewash and mainwash phase.
I am more and more sold on the ISE10, thanks to your good self and others in particular Jim. 😀
Best Regards,
Oliver.

I wonder if Super-Rinse adds 2 rinses, as it says in the manual upto 7 rinses depending on which programme is selected. So if it altered from 3 ro 5 rinses then your press super-rinse it will do 7, that adds up?
Conversley if you select it to do 5 rinses it always will do. But if you select super-rinse it will do 5 rinses temporarily, or while the option is selected?
And Super rinse will always make Heavy do 7 rinses as the programmes do 5 as standard.
This probably makes no sense to anyone but me! :rolls:

ummm,
I would imagine if someone needed (like yourself) to set your machine to permanently do the 5 rinses, then when you press the super rinse button, like you said, the machine would add it to 7 rinses max.
So even with the heavy wash and the super rinse you would still end up with 7. I think that is what you were asking 😕
The heavy wash is a long wash, but i wondered if you did the cotton wash 60o plus H W L and super rinse would the wash be pretty much the same, as this combination (if you are bothered about wash times, i’m not really) is shorter.
Do the higher water level wash tomorrow.

Hi oliver,
Now doing the higher water level wash for you and by god, what you posted about the more water perhaps having a better result i dont know about yet but the suds 8O. I use ariel, colour in this wash due to my sons black work clothes, but i only ever use 75ml (or less) of powder although in my medium hardness water area i should be using 130ml for even normal soil and the amount of suds with the higher water level is amazing 😯 ( I am getting superb results with the 1607 compared with my old machine :D) The water for the wash part is 2 cm up the glass.
I wont use the 7 rinses however because myself and my son love the smell of ariel :rolls: It takes me back to that lovely homely smell that i can remember from a child, lovely on the pillows and sheets 😳
She is now rinsing. my son has just come into the kitchen saying, “what the hell are you doing?” Me with my bum in the air 😯 , tape measure up against the glass!! Me says, i am seeing how high the water goes up the glass for a chap on the forum 😀 He says, “my god you are sad, always on that forum talking to your cyber friends about washing machines and i can never get on facebook 😡 ” Bet you can guess my reply, something like, kettle and black 😉 Needless to say he wasnt impressed 😆
Anyhow, the water is about 1cm up the glass, this is, of course, with the washing in (trousers, t-shirt, sweatshirt, fleece, socks and a towel)
I am really impressed with the wash result and i am going to use the cotton wash with the higher water level (maybe with the super wash if heavily soiled) for every wash of my sons work clothes. So this little test for you has proved advantageous for me also 😀

Just a quick one, I am really amazed because that cotton wash and higher water level with that amount of powder, has removed every trace of copper grease!! A substance that is renownd for being hard to remove, so well impressed 😀

Hi Quickwash,
Thank you so VERY VERY much for doing this. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
That is just what I wanted to know. Now for the good news I am going to order an ISE10 tomorrow! 😀
If it can remove copper grease the it is one hell of a washing machine, that certainly is no mean feat.
Likeing the kettle and black bit, I get the same too :rolls:
Thank you,
Oliver.

Hi oliver,
You are welcome, glad to have been of some help 😀
I think you, like me, will be fascinated with the seperate drum :rolls:
I am sure you will be glad with your decision 😀
And for you the out of guarantee repairability will be a great advantage plus the spares being of a reasonable price 💡

Hi Quickwash,
Just a thought about detergents, I currently use Persil bio, bleaching powder (green box), do you think Ariel Bio bleach cleans any better? I wouldn’t ask but I have just washed a Hi-vis jacket covered in grease, it has a soak for nearly 3 hours on the Bosch’s soak programme then had an Intensive 60oC cotton wash, however although the marks have faded they are not completley removed. I wonder if Ariel would have faired better.
I used to use Ariel but had a foaming issue, so did my Mum in her previous Siltal, so much that it poured out of the soap drawer during spinning, the drain system was clean so all the water drained it just produced too much foam. There was only 70ml in there but it recommended 100ml. I wonder if this issue has been resolved, I do not want to ruin my new ISE10.
And I don’t use conditioner anyway, disgusting product!
Thanks,
Oliver.

Hi. Did you see the videos linked in this post?

I found them interesting when I was deciding whether to get an ISE10 (which I did, and am pleased I did).

Hi oliver,
I think ariel is a fantastic product for stain removal, it was the first company to introduce stain removers into its powders. It also says that it helps to stop stains setting in, dont know about that but i am very pleased with the wash results 😀
Like i mention on my other post, i use 75ml of powder and have no problems, admittedly there was quite a lot of foam in with the wash but tbh it was nothing ‘to write home about’ and i have never experienced the problems you or your mum have with ariel. I think they have probably improved by it now, unfortunatley many folk used to think that lots of suds meant a cleaner wash, but i think things have probably moved on a bit since then. Well for some anyhow :rolls:
You could give it a ‘whizz’ and see how you get on. I have used persil for a bit as i was given a box to use up, its wash results were quite satisfactory but i do like my ariel tbh and just love that smell :rolls:
Sure glad to hear you dont use that perfumed grease :bs:
best wishes to you

Hi Quickwash,
Thank you for the info on detergents. I will get some Ariel and give it a try and see how it compares to Persil.
Best Regards and thanks,
Oliver.
