    Hi

    I hope someone can help.

I need to purchase a new washing machine that will fit under my kitchen cabinet (the space under the cabinet is just under 33″). Due to the restricted space I need to buy a new machine (that has good reliability etc) that I can then replace the top cover with a height reduction kit, to ensure that the washer will then fit in the space.

Could someone suggest a range of washers that a height reduction kit can be purchased for?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Keller

You can do that with the Bosch range of machines by removing the worktop lid you reduce the height to 32.25 inches. Add on the protective lid which your retailer can order for you, job done.

Re: New Washing machine & height reduction kit

    Hi Keller,

There isn’t a kit available for ISE and, on ISE10, it isn’t possible to reduce the height even if the lid is removed due the construction.

In essence though all it is is a sheet of thin metal with a (usually) foam strip, much like the stick-on draught strips from DIY stores, around the edge and that’s about all they are. The only reason for those is to stop little fingers from prodding about inside and to somewhat stop any spills as well.

A lot of manufacturers don’t bother with them as they are rarely asked for. If you have one fitted to the existing machine you’d likely find that it could be “adapted” to fit a new one with a bit of cutting and drilling.

A new machine eh? My advice is not to go for anything cheap, especially the Haier nightmares, we were browsing in Comet and saw one, and needless to say, I was not impressed. Just pulling the detergent drawer out spoke volumes, as it felt flimsy and didn’t even pull out straight, so the rest of the machine isn’t going to be any good, and if you research Haier on the internet you’ll find their lacklustre user guides, which are extremely funny to read, there was spelling and grammer mistakes all over the place, and the type wasn’t very legible, very cheap and nasty, I certainly won’t be buying one.

Most machines you should be able to take the lid off, but only Miele of what I know of, have a height reduction kit.
