ParticipantHi, we are looking to replace our current 8kg Samsung washing machine as it is reaching the end of its life.
The machine is used a lot, as we live in a farmhouse. We probably average about 2-3 washes daily, mainly clothes with a weekly sofa rug/cushion cover wash or two (damned muddy dogs).
The feature most important to us is durability. We certainly don’t need any bells and whistles (basically all the machine ever runs is the daily wash programme and a warm cotton one, with the occasional delicates run in winter for woolen items).
Number two priority is repairability. Having two engineers at home we tend to do repairs ourselves, having even to resort to component level repairs on boards due to lightning strikes in the past.
This is the main reason we are reluctant to go down the Miele route despite their reputation for durability.
We’re happy to spend up to a grand if it actually makes a difference in the quality of the machine.
Any suggestions would be welcome.Thanks
TL/DR
Nº of People: 5-6.

Special circumstances: NO allergies, etc. A lot of animals in the household

Budget: up to 1k if necessaryEdit: adding TL/DR + more information

ModeratorHi
The average UK family get through three loads a week approx.
With your level of use a domestic washing machine will not last you a couple of years. I think you would be better off with a semi commercial machine like the Maytag 3LMVWC315FW which IIRC is guaranteed for 25 loads per week at 10.5kg, it will complete a whole wash in about thirty minutes and is a good work horse.
When it comes to repair the whole front and sides come away after removing a few screws, easy to work on and spares readily available. Now for the not so good part 😉 these are hot and cold fill machines so a good supply of hot and cold water is a must also you will need to possibly upgrade your waste to a two inch diameter in order for the pump to push out at the correct rate.

ParticipantHmm, that might be a very useful option. As it happens, we keep the washing machine in the dirt room, which is the closest to the solar accumulator tank and maybe only 2m of pipe away from that sweet sweet free 60ºC water. The only issue with that specific Maytag is that it is a toploader.
But I’ll have a look around the semi commercial options out there, thanks.

ModeratorI did take a look at your ip address when I replied earlier which suggests you are posting from Spain, so it makes sense to check out there 🙂
