After 17 years & a few repairs, I’m now looking to replace my old Maytag/ASKO Maf9602aes washing machine…
I’m looking closely at the ASKO W2086C.W.UK/1 which is available through ASKO UK.
From the on-line sales info it looks identical (in internal mechanical architecture anyway) to my existing machine…
stainless outer drum…quattro suspension…cast iron balance weights etc.(It appears to mimic the late ISE 1607 machine in many ways as well…)
It comes with a 5 year warranty & I can source one for a little under £1000.
Has anyone any experience of these Slovenian built machines?
How do they compare to the Swedish ASKO’s of old…?The alternative for me would be a low-end Miele machine but my understanding is that these have become more plasticky of late…losing their stainless steel outer tubs…etc?
Anyone have an opinion?

I totally agree with K, I was the first in Devon to stock Asko products some thirty five years ago and we were totally taken with them and I have to admit still am.
Miele have a lot of restrictions when it comes to spare parts and service information. Service info is restricted to their own engineers. You can look up spare parts on their website and get part numbers but be warned it can be a costly mistake if you get it wrong.

Looks as though I can currently source an ASKO W2086 machine from a number of retailers for around £599 – must be sale season!

Time will tell how durable it is…Where were you able to get it from at that price? Cheapest I can see at the moment is £800, which is a considerable reduction:

The company has now been taken over by a Chinese manufacturer and the new models likely aren’t as good, but still start at £1k+

Ended up paying about £399 for a W2086 from an on-line retailer – they don’t appear to stock them any more at present however……
As regards the build quality…yes, the machine is made in Slovakia…but having removed the top and had a poke around inside; it all looks very substantial…certainly visually comparable to my previous Swedish built Asko model – & if anything a better internal layout…
Certainly getting plenty of daily usage…..
