new wdud9640p, sickly sweet smell

Hi,

I have recently taken delivery of a Hotpoint wdud9640p

After setting it up, and ensuring all packaging was removed, connections correct etc, it has been run 4-5 times.

When it warms up, and in particular when drying, it seems to emit a sickly-sweet smell, which permeates into the clothes.

I think it it lessening with each run, but it is still noticeable enough to make the clothes washed not much use.

Is this something anyone else has experienced? Is it likely to merely be factory smells that will vanish with time…or not?
