Why not just remove the knob that she is inadvertently using?

I would assume most of the timer/control unit functions are internal to the unit anyway. :con:

as with all old dears the timer/clock really wants replacing as you cannot now set time of day or stop minute timer acting and alarm ringing so i just want to disconnect clock and leave it on manual for her i think its just finding the power out of clock tried taking her for a ride to local old folkes home but the bitch walked back so i am still lumbered

Not knowing the model but, assuming this timer is a stand alone clock, (rather than some pcb that controls everything) it will be a simple operation but you will need to work it out yourself. Of all the wires to the clock, 2 will be the power to the clock itself and the others conected to either a relay or mechanical contacts. if its single pole then there will only be one pair to short out, if double pole the their will be 2 pairs. I usually just replace one of each pairs spade terminals with a piggy back type (rated accordingly) and attatch the second wire to that.
