ParticipantHi all,
Got a 5-yr-old New World Range (gas hob, 2 elec oven, fan + Conventional). This is in a house we have bought. Clock has never worked but everything else was fine. Turned on the fan oven (separate temp + mode dials) Seemed to be a slight spark sound (yeah I know this is vague) and the main oven is now doing nothing, no fan, no light, no heating up, no light above the dial coming on.
Second conventional oven is working fine, hob is fine and spark to light hob is fine.
It’s in good nick apart from this so exploring a fix.
Can anyone give me a clue on possible problem ?
Anyone around Warrington who can take a look and give me some numbers ?Many thanks in advance,
Andy.

Hi Andy,
To find an engineer near you you can try here:

It sounds like it could be a switch or overheat thermostat but we’d need a model number to look further.
At the age though it is very likely worth repairing.

Nice one, appreciate the info.
Tried the engineer search but it came up with a blank for this make (nearest in Scotland)!September 20, 2012 at 2:12 pm #381556kwatt

Ah, if it’s a gas or duel fuel cooker then that might be why since Gas Safe registered repairers aren’t exactly thick on the ground and getting scarcer due to the cost and hassle of registration.
The search then defaults to us here, hence the Scotland bit. 😕
One of the repairers in the region may pick this up and know who’s best placed to do it in the area though.

Update – Chap has taken a look, took the back off and tested electrics etc. Says very surprised it has worked at all with the clock bust and its prob the control unit ? Talking 150quid for unit and 50 quid to fit.
Concerned with throwing good money at it now and whether to cut losses and get a new one, any comments appreciated ??? -
