ParticipantThis cooker has two elements in the oven, The upper one doubles as a grill. It is possible to select joint heating and separate heating by either top or bottom element.
After recent problems with slow heating up it became clear by experimenting that the top element was not heating the oven – yet the bottom one does. But the top element works fine as a grill.
So is the problem the element – which seems unlikely to me – or the selector switch. Or even how to work out what is the problem?October 27, 2013 at 12:39 pm #403481Andy jones

The outer part is normally for the oven and inner part is for the grill

I’m pretty sure (can’t check it at home) that this is the cheapest option for that grill element:

The inner element will be the infra red grilling element and the outer the oven heating element. Both work independent of each other in effect so one can pop leaving the other one working.
It is hugely more likely to be the element at fault as opposed to the selector switch. It is of course possible but I’d think it unlikely.

Hi
Thanks for that advice and i see what the problem might be.
The element connection is set to the left not the centre as it seems to be on the alternative suggested.
Is there a cheaper alternative than the Stoves part ?October 27, 2013 at 6:04 pm #403484kwatt

The one from the link above is considerably cheaper than the Stoves part.
I’ll ask Dave to confirm it’s correct.

Can you check the rating plate and let me know the long number beginning 44 or 05 please, there’s bound to be more than one version knowing Stoves 😉
