Hi was wondering if some of yous guys can help me, the inner glass on our new world oven broke today. I dont have the model type. My wife says she has slid it out many times and cleaned it. It looks to me like ordinary 4mm toughened glass and thats what im really asking. Is ordinary 4 mm toughened glass used in ovens as i could get a piece tomorrow as i work in a glass factory that produces it.
Thanks don for the answer. I think the toughened i can get will be fine. The ordinary float glass is heated up in a furnace at over 600 c and then cooled. Thats what makes it toughened. All the edges are arissed to take the sharp edges off them or quite a few wouldnt make it through the toughening process . I dont see any writing other than new world . Theres a label but i cant read it . Its to long new.
The old glass is in tiny pieces. Thats the way toughened glass breaks. Ive a bit glass home with me tonight to give it a go. This type of glass can go through another process for a few hours at 300 c . It only breaks if there is a weakness in that individual piece of glass. It cost me £5.40 so worth a try
