The rubber labyrinth seal around the interior glass panel of the oven door on this cooker needs replacing – can I buy this from somewhere?

    Hi,

We’d need a model number and possibly the serial number off the machine as well to track that down for you.

OK, the GC Appliance No is 11.645.26 (White).

Looking at the manuals (yes, I’m that sad – I have the original manuals from ….. er, 1987, it says!), these ovens used to be described as ‘slide under’, rather than built under.

I had rather hoped that someone would say I could march into a supplier’s and ask for three metres of Type 42 ….. !

    Silly, of me, I know.

Maybe I should just have followed my first instinct, which was to take a short length of the disintegrating rubber into a spares shop and say; “Hey, ya got any of THIS?!”.

And lookng further into the service manual, I’ve found that the door seal I need is Part No 162461900, G C No 021 588.

    Obsolete, probably?

From 1987 there’s a strong possibility that it will indeed be obsolete but if you drop a line with that info to Jess on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk she should be able to answer it on Monday.

And there are no generic oven seals that I know of due to variances in heights, thickness etc.

    Hi
These seals are still available through Indesit who owned New World at that time. I cannot remember the part number but I won’t be far off with C00150984.

    Call Indesit-Hotpoint on 0870 6070805.

They should cross reference the G.C. no to their model no but if not the seal should be the same as the one on the model CKG21514
