Totally correct.
Miele started using DAG to cover it then dropped that.
I suspect that they may have found exactly what we have found with insurance cover of this nature, it costs a lot due to the high price of the product which is one factor that they base premiums on. You don’t get as many failures but still suffer the high premiums due to the last point. Meanwhile, the cover doesn’t actually pay out on a good chunk of the problems you get!
In short, it’s expensive and ultimately offers not the protection that you thought.
Meanwhile the insurer rakes it in.
On the low and mid market stuff the equation swings more toward it being an advantage for the brand owner but, on the commercial contracts that you get for this sort of stuff, you still face numerous clauses that can allow the insurer to squirm out of paying out.
That I’m afraid, is the reality.
So the conclusion is that insuring just isn’t worth it as you can’t get a decent deal on it.
So, we had to come up with an alternative.
The good thing about all this latest BS in the public is that it’s pretty much proved that what we had in mind was 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} correct and that debacle has actually honed what we were thinking.
The bad news is that it sorta caught us a little off-gaurd, we weren’t quite ready to announce what we’re doing and we’ve had to tiptoe around some of the details. However, we’re getting there and it should all be in place by year end as we need to do all the legwork on the legal stuff etc.
However, you’re gonna absolutely love what we’re going to do, it is an absolute belter and will silence this sort of thing once and for all, protect the customers and the repairers all in one fell swoop. 😉
More as soon as I can blab it. For now though, I have to keep my gob shut.
As to a parts only option, we looked at that and decided against it. I can’t for the life of me recall why but, we did as it was one of the options that we kicked about when we found out that the full insurance was a non-starter.

No, all machines are now on the 8kg platform and the 7kg is no longer produced.
But, we have a plan there.

I await with eager anticipation. If we could drop the price by dropping the g/tee it may look better.

I would be very happy with a freestanding dishwasher as well at 60cm wide. Could a 45cm be included or is that too much to ask because of costs?

Asko don’t build a 45cm DW. 😉
Full size DW hopefully later this year. Finally.
