No more ASKO?

My 7-year old ASKO WM25.3 washing machine has developed a nasty squeak when the drum rotates during the wash / rinse cycle – no play in the drum & its not a metallic bearing noise however.
It sounds very much like a dry plastic squeaking – possibly the V-ring cassette in front of the bearing?
The noise is very loud & constant throughout the programme but only when the drum is rotating at low speed.
I have investigated the parts availability & UKWhitegoods have the bearings in stock.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate anyone in my part of the country, (East Cambridgeshire,) who is prepared to undertake a possible bearing replacement on an Asko.
It seems a shame to have to scrap such a quality machine due to no available backup – so……..this is really just an appeal for anyone with any knowledge of this problem to advise.
Asko machines may well be built for a long life but with no cover, maybe the answer is to replace it with something that can be fixed by a local engineer.
    Sorry, rant over!!
    Many thanks.

    Re: No more ASKO?

Are you sure the noise comes from the bearings and not the motor or belt? Have you disconnected the belt and turned the drum by hand to see if noise is still apparent?

    Re: No more ASKO?

Try Changing The Door Seal sounds like the inner drum rubbing against the seal.
Which it does normally. they do now and again squeak .just before the end of spin. or during rotation. 😉

Use the Engineer Search facility… Anyone who repairs ISE will also repair ASKO

    Re: No more ASKO?

    Thanks for all the replies……
    Just to confirm:-
Belt removed, door open & drum turned by hand, still squeaks….
No conventional door seal on an Asko – its mounted to the door.

Unfortunately, the “local” ISE engineer seemed a little unwilling to get involved. Something about not having done such a job before – & would have to consult the ” drawings” when back home.
    Heard nothing since.
Have tried two other companies, (one fairly near to me in Peterborough,) who have Asko listed on their websites. When they heard the word “bearings” neither wanted to get involved.

So….I’ll probably leave it to get worse, scrap the machine in the New Year & despite my misgivings, invest in a basic Miele washer.
At least I’ll have some backup – albeit at a high price.

    It’s taught me a valuable lesson though…..
Investing in a machine built to last many years is fine – if only the support is there when things go wrong.
    Once again, thanks for replies…..

    Hi

Do you have transport to move the appliance ??

If you do then we will carry out the repair for you in Luton as we do not cover Peterborough or Cambridgeshire.
