One year warranty has just expired on my Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 washer dryer and there is no power indication at all on machine. I checked mains socket, fuse, and power lead – all OK. Took out door switch and mechanism does seem to be physically broken i.e. door latch does not activate it so I thought this must be the reason for no power. But when I activate it manually and try on/off switch (carefully) still no power.

    Any ideas?

Most likely the door lock itself, it can take a few seconds to warm up and operate. Do not under any circumstances try to operate the lock by hand when the appliance plug is still in the socket (even switched off)….there is a very real danger of death :zap: :lesson:

It is also possible that there is an earth fault somewhere which will have blown the door lock along with the pcb too so simply fitting a new door lock might result in a little pyrotechnics 😕

At the very least you need to test for earth faults before proceeding.

If you haven’t the equipment/experience then perhaps time for an engineer?
