    Hi,

Have just moved into a house that has the above machine installed as a built in unit. However pushing the on button does absolutley nothing, none of the 3 lights come on, no noise, nothing.

I have checked the socket and fuse both of which are fine. The water supply would appear to be good as it is coming from the same pipe as the cold tap, which is functioning fine.

I’m out of ideas, having never owned a dishwasher before I’m wondering if I’m missing the blindingly obvious here?

It’s a Whirlpool-built machine, so quite basic really. Burnt-out wiring at the mains suppressor is the most obvious one to look for, followed by broken wiring through the pivot area of the door. They’re easy to spot; dead pcb is another candidate and may not be so obvious.

Power off if you’re going to sort this yourself.

Wow, thanks for such a quick reply! Would it be possible to give me some idea of where these items are located and how I can gain access? Will this require a complete removal of the machine?

I would guess any burnt out wiring may point to a more serious issue with the machine?

yes, you’ll have to pull the machine out and take the casing off.

follow the mains cable route (unplug the machine BEFORE doing anything) and you’ll see it going to a “electronic component”…..there will also be (2 or 3)wires coming out, that’s the mains filter/supressor.

The wiring from the “electrics” in the door, will exit at the bottom of the door (hinge-edge)…you’ll need to check them all for continuity…..the wire goes brittle and snaps, but the plastic covering is often OK (just to fool you! )

You will probably need to dismantle the door -casing in order to access the wires.

All dismantling should be fairly obvious…..if it’s not, you may be out of your depth!

Not a professional repairer ,so don’t take my words as gospel!

Re: No power to Caple DI414 Dishwasher?

Thanks for that, I had already taken the door panels of and have found a couple of the cables at the door hinge are broken and burnt so there has obviously been some kind of problem here.

I think the machine is probably around 4-5 years old so it might make sense to replace rather than repair. I have a horrible feeling even if I go to all the bother of pulling the machine out and rewiring it there may be additional faults that were caused when the cables must have short circuited.

    Thanks for the replies.
