I had to replace my washing machine and had turned off the tap feeding the washing machine. When I disconnected the hose from tap to machine I noticed a hissing noise, suggesting a release of pressure.

Anyway the tap was turned off for sometime (2 weeks), as the new (2nd hand machine) didn’t arrive for a while.

Machine arrives, reconnect everything and machine is not filling. I removed the hose from the inlet tap and discover no water is coming from this tap.

All the other taps in the house working fine. There is no cistern, all the water comes from the mains supply.

    Any ideas?

    Regards, Graeme

    Call a plumber. 😉

The likeliest cause is a faulty tap.

if this tap is the quarter turn type remove the plastic flag and operate with pliers as the flags often break
