ParticipantI’ve been trying to fix this BEKO WTB741R2W for a while now. Finally found that the fuses on the DC module were blown and replaced it. The washer seemed to be working but the motor was making a loud clicking noise.
I had taken the brushes off to inspect them, before I discovered the DC module fault, and thought that maybe they were put back in a different position and would need to be worn again. I am also not sure if the previous owner had installed new brushes in an attempt to repair it either.
We tried to run several washes through in an attempt to wear the brushes down. The result being the washer tripping the consumer unit once it reaches the spin cycle at high speed. We still kept running washes, until yesterday, when the DC module blew again.
How long does it typically take to wear brushes in? and should it trip the electric doing so?
Also, could there be another problem at fault here, causing the DC module to blow?September 12, 2020 at 6:20 pm #471888electrofix
Moderatorif the brushes click as they go round it sounds like your motor is shot. the brushes run on the commutator and one of the segments is too high so its scrap

ParticipantI will pull the motor out and have a look. Will I be able to spot a raised segment by eye?

Moderatorput your finger on the comutator and spin motor. there should be no high spots.
yes you can spot it by eye as well, just turn armature until it clicks and look at the segment causing itif it is high you cant cure it. even if you manage to rub it down to stop it, It will return very quickly so its not worth the effort

ParticipantThanks Dave. Found the raised segment causing the click. Washer is only a year old, so is it just bad luck?
I’m also wondering if there is anything to stop me putting another branded motor in the machine as I have a few spares.
