    Hi Folks

I have a Hotpoint TDC62 condenser dryer which has recently become very noisy during operation. In short, it makes a loud, rapid and dull ‘buzzing’ sound – a bit like a lollipop stick in a bike wheel !

Noise aside the dryer performs well.

When I rotate the drum by hand it resists a little and makes the noise, although slower – so my advanced technical skills 😆 tells me the problem is with that or whatever gubbins are directly attached to it ! Other than that, I’m a bit stuck…. !

You guys were great when I had a thermostat problem a few weeks back…. but are you up to a real challenge this time …. ? 😉

    Regards,
    Stuart

What challenge Stuart? The noise will be coming from a foreign body being trapped in one of the fans – all you have to do is remove it. Now that’s a challenge!

By removing the RH (From the front) side cover, you will find a large white plastic cover over the fan chambers. This has to come off to access the fans. You may have to remove the drum to achieve full access – if you’re not confident, have a look in Directories or check Repairs@ for a UKW engineer in your area.

If you’re very brave, make sure the power is off first :plug: .

    Re: Noisy (Buzzing) Hotpoint TDC62

    Sorted !

A rogue strip of Dairy Milk wrapper stuck in a/the fan has proven to be the bane of my life for such a long time…. and all for no real reason whatsover !!

I mean you were right; it was pretty easy wasn’t it…??! Easy that is once I’d got over the shock of finding the dryer stuffed full (and I mean full !) of lint and other unmentionable yeucky stuff 😯 ! And then on removing it to discover the worlds most complex fan case assembly weaving it’s way horrendously amongst and through all manner of electrical bits, bots, drums and dont-know-whats….!

Still, easing the closest part of the casing open revealed the purple plastic/paper problem and – et voila !! Only problem now is I don’t know whether to be pleased 😀 or not 😡 ❓

I mean, here’s me thinking I’d challenged you proper by bowling my best yorker…. only for you to whop me out of the ground for a massive six !

But on balance I have to say well done sir (I think!) 😆

All I gotta do now is whip the kids to within an inch of thier lives for failing to empty pockets and politely/sweetly encourage her-who-must-be-obeyed to clean the dust filters every now and again.

    Cheers and thanks,
    Stuart
