ParticipantHi,
I have a Bosch Exxcel 8 VarioPerfect (WAQ24461GB) washing machine which is around 3.5 years old. I recently replaced the heater element with the help of here (and the shop).
When the drum is turning, it now makes a bit of a strange sound. Below is a link to a video of the machine turning (I have taken the back off). Hopefully someone can suggest whether this would be an easy fix, or whether I will need a pro to repair (or replace!).

It sounds to me like it is coming from the drum. The belt seems to be ok and the 3 suspension arms (or whatever they are called) do not seem to squeak.
Thanks

difficult to say from video as the clothes moving round are adding to the noise
take clothes out , take belt off, and spin drum and see if it makes any noise then

just flip belt off it a stretch belt
sounds like bearing failure though
bad new though its one of the dreaded sealed tubs so complete unit only
but only looked up a random one as I have not got the last 2 digits of the EnrBosch price £226
the sealed tub are no where near as reliable as the un sealed ones

Sounds like bra wire or some such foreign object caught between drum and outer tub to me.

Well should be easy to pull the heater out again and check that

A fractured ball bearing rivet cage possibily and perhaps rusted too. Not motor bearings and does not sound like a bra wire to me. Any disaster can happen even at 3.5 years old, Bosch or otherwise.

Hi there Dave, I have the same washing machine and I suspect I have a bearings problem with a very loud grinding noise on full spin.
You can hear it here… http://descry.co.uk/Excell8-Washing-Machine.mp4You say that the drum enclosure is a sealed tub… Do you mean it’s a hard moulded seal that won’t go back together if you crack it open?
Any workaround with it? Or is it just a full new drum assembly required? Because the bearings themselves are WAY cheaper! If that’s the case, I might just plum for a new washing machine as the price of the new drum is almost as much!
Could you recommend a good washing machine like the Bosch one that comes with an unsealed drum assembly for future repair possibilities! Many thanks,

Moderatoras far as we know the bosch WAN series still uses the original drum which can be split albeit using a kit to reseal it.
you can look up bosch parts here
