ParticipantI have a relative with a bosch classixx 1200 express and when the machine is spinning it starts to vibrate slightly and it sounds like it’s rubbing on the front right hand side at the bottom. I’ve turned the drum by hand and it sounds like a worn wheel bearing on a car. The filter have been checked at the front but that was clear so would anyone know what other things it could be.

Sounds like the bearings are shot.

K.Thank you for your reply.
Would you know a definite way to tell if the bearings have gone as I don’t want to order the bearings to find it was something stuck in the drum. Also will I have to buy the bearing kit that comes with a seal or will I get away with buying the cheaper bearing set and not replacing the rubber seal.

To check for bearing failure, power disconnected, remove the back panel and release the belt from the main drive pulley. Then from the front spin the inner drum by hand. It should be virtually silent and rotate freely. Any rumbling noise and the bearings are toast for sure. If the inner drum has any lateral (up and down) movement on the drive shaft the bearings are shot and so too often the shaft. If there’s a distinct scraping/metallic noise then it’s not the bearings but something caught between the inner drum and outer tub (bra wires, credit cards, hairgrips etc caught between).

I will try what you said as I want to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it is the bearings as I know someone that had a noisy washing machine so they phoned the warranty company and they sent out an engineer and they said it was the bearings so he ordered the parts but when another engineer came out to fit the bearings he found it was a bra wire and not the bearings.
I do think it’s the bearing as before I asked how do I make sure it’s the bearings I tried pushing down on the drum but there didn’t seem to be any movement so I tried pushing up and you can feel movement and you can hear a slight knocking noise. I then put my hand on the inside of the drum and moved left and right and it feels rough.
Would you be able to tell me what kit to buy as I’m put off getting the bosch kit when the bearings have failed when the machine is used once a week..

due to the design of the tub you need a bearing kit that includes a seal and screws to bolt the drum back together. to split drum you have to break the plastic clips and screw the drum back together
bosch gen kit 172686
seal kit only no bearings 265964
if you want parts breakdown go here
http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/searchand put you Enr in
then go here https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/ to source spares
