Noisy Hotpoint Freezer + Red Light Lit

Hi

Woke up this morning to here strange noise from kitchen. Approximately every 1-2 mins strange noise from Hotpoint 8709 freezer with permanent red light on left hand side of three lights on front. Can anybody help?

I have read your notes on refrigeration but I still do not know what type of process is used to make it work. It has always had a lot of ice inside do not know if right or wrong. Things still feel frozen but then again they probably would for a while?

All change I notice that ice is easy to break off by hand and seems less of it so suspect it is defrosting although I do not see puddles of water?

Do this – switch off at wall and leave it off for about 30 mins. Then switch it back on and listen for a hum followed by a click. If you get this then you have a faulty motor, if you get something else post what you hear/see

Hi

Have left freezer off now for several hours anyway. When switched back on get loud whirring which then stops after approx 3-4 secs. Same noise as before. Still have both green and red lights lit.
