ParticipantLG WM1485FHD Washing Machine has been getting noiser and noiser during the spin cycle. Decided to give it a good clean and re-level it to try and fix it.
Found that the machine was tilted up at the front and and left, managed to correct the tilt to the front with the adjustable feet but can’t correct to the right – I guess that the floor is uneven at the back.
Gave the machine one 90 deg wash with some Homebase Washing Machine cleaner and one 90 deg wash with just powder tablets – maintanance wash as discussed on this site.
The machine now makes an occasional metal-on-metal creak/squeal when the drum rotates, as if the cleaning has removed some gunk that was actually acting as a lubricant! I have a vague memory of this happening the last time I cleaned the machine, but only for one wash. This time it has continued to happen for a few washes.
The metallic noise does happen during the spin, but the noise doesn’t change with speed, which doesn’t sound to me like it could be the bearings, although it does come from the centre of the back of the drum. The hammering noise during the spin is located towards the bottom left of the front of the machine – damaged damping spring?
Any hints of how to proceed welcome. If I were to buy a rear bearing kit to see if that fixes it, do they come with installation instructions?
This is one of the LG ‘direct drive’ models if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

Update:
The metallic squeak that was happening somtimes when the drum rotated has gone again.
Any ideas what could cause this to happen for a few washes after I do a maintanence wash?
Still hammers from the bottom left corner while spinning 🙁

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully I’ll get chance to look at the weekend.
I’ve heard that the LG WM-1485 FHD actually had a 5 year parts warranty, can anyone tell me if that is true? If it is, can anyone tell me the age of the machine from either the serial number 304KW00083 or this other number on the tag plate 33WD2990? It might still be under warranty if it is a 5 year warranty.
The squeak is back and the drum now feels odd when I rotate it by hand, kind of gritty
🙁

Need the bearings done quickly, the squeak is the water seal rubbing .
Do not use it as this will only make things worse and lead to more damage -
