I’d appreciate any advice you can offer as why my Samsung dryer is making a racket. I think it recently started to make a squeaking noise when the drum turns and now makes a large banging sound but only when rotating anti clockwise.
From what I read I thought it would be the fans or worn out guide wheels biut these seem fine, any ideas?

not an easy one to diagnose online

you first have to find out where the noise is coming from. my first guess would be the motor area
you will have to listen when its making the noise and try to figure out which side of the case the sound is coming from
if you think its the motor area you will need to remove the side and see if anything look like a problem

Thanks for the reply, I eventually took off the dryer sides and worked out the noise was coming from the rear main bearing and spindle. When I removed the drum I was a bit surprised to find the arrangement wasnt as I imagined. The flange riveted onto the drum doesn’t have a spindle attached but instead has a hole into which a “bearing/spindle” Which is attached to a flange plate on the rear carcass of the machine. Below is a picture of the flange on the drum and the ‘hole’, it’s not obvious in the picture but the hole is oval in shape being 17mm in one direction and only 15mm in the other leading me to believe it’s worn?

The articulating spindle (it also seems to be damaged) is in the pictures below. Does anyone know if it’s possible to source these parts as I can’t find them online?

samsung are one of those companies that keep it all to themselves

getting part no info is not easy any getting tech info if almost impossible

Thanks, I guess I need a donor machine or a new one then. Certainly I don’t think it’ll be another Samsung. Talk about inbuilt obsolescence the machine is only 5 years old and this part looks doomed to fail from the outset as there’s only support for the drum at front except for this odd spindle.

well that bearing is brilliant. compare it to hotpoints

this pic is larger than life, shaft size about 7mm

if you email the site shop with full model numbers ( pic of the label )
and full desciption of whwt you need they may be able to help
