Has anyone fitted a spin motor to one of these twin tub’s ?

We recieved a new motor which seems very hard to turn, it may well have a built in brake with a centrifugal release on it. I don’t want to send an engineer to fit it only to find it faulty.

I asked the question of ISDAL and Richard kindly forwarded the question to Norfrost service, after 24 hours I have not recieved a reply from Norfrost so I thought I would ask here, I’m more likely to get a reply 😉

hi dave, yes we’ve fitted quite a few of these.
i’m not sure of the internals of the motor, but i think from memory, they are hard to turn.
the tricky part of the job is releasing the drum from the motor.
you may need a long drift and a piece of wood with a hole in the centre, that fits under the rim of the drum.
the drift goes through the centre of the wood and against the the motor shaft.
obviously unscrew the nut and then hit the drift whilst at the same time pulling hard on the piece of wood.
a useful contact at norfrost is robert miller, 01847 821333
hope this is of some use to you.
    cheers.

Great alf, thanks for that, it’s of great use to me. I can get the call booked in tommorrow now 😀

I guessed the drum would be a bugger to remove, the shaft is the tapered type, like the old frigidaire spinners.

I’ll pass the number on to the engineer going out in case he gets stuck while on the job as it were.

I knew I would get a faster reaction here than from Nobfrost.

    Cheers.

    Dave.
