Not a good start to the week.

I suppose after more than 45 years at the coalface it is a wonder it hasn’t happened before.
Call booked in this lunchtime, arranged over the weekend by this chaps grand daughter. Gave me her mobile and his home number.

Rang the bell a couple of times then rang his phone number but got no answer. Rang the granddaughter and knew at once from the ring tone she was not local. She had gone on holiday to Greece on Sunday. She tried his phone and then phoned her auntie who lives nearby.
When she arrived we went in to find the poor old bloke dead in his armchair. 🙁

I rang the ambulance service and stayed with his daughter until they arrived. He was 88/89 but had been in good health until today.

Very sad.

The nearest I have had to that situation was I phoned the customer when I was on my way to visit and the customer told me her husband had died during the night.

She told me she would rebook after the funeral.

When I did get the call for a revisit it was from her daughter a couple of months later who said her mum had not phoned because she had a heart attack the following day due to the stress.

She was coming home and could I call to repair the fridge so she could get some food in for her mum when she comes out of hospital.

It must have been very stressful for her daughter.

when I started to read that Jim I just assumed it was going to be another customer could not be bothered to cancel call type moan. How wrong I was, must have been a shock for you too.

Pulled up at a job a couple weeks ago to find paramedics there, window cleaner had fell off his ladder and was in a bad way. I said i’ll come back but customer insisted they needed their washing machine sorting
