ParticipantAny advice would be much appreciated.
I noticed yesterday the the fridge is not cold, the freezer is fine, ice making is fine but the water is not chilled. Presumably water is cooled by what cools the fridge.
I have tried the fast refrigerate button but to no avail. When the door is closed the unit can be heard ‘working’. If you open the fridge door and push in the button so it thinks the door is shut, it starts up but no chilling takes place, nothing comes out of the vents. The fridge is half full and the freezer full – as is always the case. No vents are blocked.
It’s been sat in the same unconfined spot – plenty of air space around it – for the last two years and three months working fine and now the fridge appears to have stopped.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers,
Phil. ❓

Surprised it’s not come up with the “d” error. However, chances are there’s a lump of ice in the damper preventing cold air getting into the fridge section, or ice build up beside the top drawer. (I’m assuming you hear the fan running when you close the door). It’s a very simple setup, a fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge and a damper opens and closes to maintain temperature.
Easiest way is to switch off for 24 hours and leave the doors open, this should totally defrost the machine. Start it up and see if it works. If not time for an engineer to check out the damper.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice in the post. The actual model number of the unit is S20BRBB20-A/G, just found this next to the salad drawer!! I am assuming that there would be no massive difference with regards to how the fridge section is chilled. I have emptied the freezer and there is no apparent ice build up, so I am going down the defrosting route. Yes, you were correct that the fan kicks in as soon as the door is closed, but no cold air gets into the fridge – well maybe a touch gets in as the fridge has never hit room temperature yet but not so much as you’d notice a breeze passing your finger tip. The freezer is working fine with no excessive freezing and there are no error codes on the digital display.
I guess I have to be patient for a day, fingers crossed!
Any further thoughts anyone?
Cheers,Phil.

This is getting quite interesting, especially the bit about the “cistern”.
I’ve previously spoken about the common problem with these machines and if a total defrost doesn’t bring it back to life, then, there is a possiblity that the sensor in the fridge isn’t working properly and that the machine actually “thinks” that the temperature in the fridge is OK, hence no fault being displayed. There is also a possiblity of the main PCB being at fault.
Without actually being at the machine it’s very hard to determine the actual cause. I can only give you an idea based on my experience of working on these machines and my next move, should the defrost not sort it out, would be to change the sensor in the fridge.DP
