Not sure what to do with my Whirlpool American Fridge Freeze

The defrost element has been changed and I have been by a local engineer that the evaporator has possibly been damaged. He has said that he wouldn’t attempt the job of replacing the evaporator and he didn’t think anybody else would. He also said that even if it was replaced and regassed there was a good chance that I would have more problems with it in the future.

Not sure what to do now as it seems a shame to throw away the fridge freezer. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I can only suggest getting an engineer who knows what he is doing .

I have replaced evaporator in Whirlpool,right tools etc no problem as Chezza says get someone who knows what he is doing.

Found a place close by that will have a look at the fridgefreezer and let me know how much it’s going to cost to repair and they are not going to charge to look at it.

If you don’t mind me asking Spimps, what did you pay to have the evaporator replaced. Just so I have a good idea before they contact me with a price.

Probably 18months ago I charged roughly £160 ish if I remember correctly.
Not an easy job to replace with the narrow freezer to work in.
