ParticipantHi
I have a electrolux 14108W and have been told that there is an object in the heater and it will be a big job to remove it. Is this right.
Thanks Jane xxxxJanuary 28, 2010 at 4:27 pm #310398Beta

Yes and No.
If the wire is wrapped around the heater, then removing the heater should allow you to remove the wire.
If not then the whole drum has to be taken apart.

Thanks for your quick answer. I don’t think it is a bra wire i think it maybe a screw 9Found one in door rubber) scrapping on the drum because when it is empty as you turn the drum it is continuos.
Thanks Jane xxxx
Would it be something i could do myselfJanuary 28, 2010 at 5:26 pm #310400iadom

some engineers have been lucky enough ( myself included ) to fish out screws or similar items. They nearly always lodge between the inner and outer drums right at the front below the door seal.
I used a very powerful, small bar magnet pushed into the end of a length of very thin plastic tubing, the kind used for pressure hoses on washing machines.
If you cannot do this then as Beta says the whole drum has to come out, a major strip down even for an experienced person. 😥

Thanks Iadom for another quick answer. Would i be able to open the case and get to the inside of the drum myself, if so could you tell me how or could you recommend someone in the Wakefield area.
Thanks Jane xxxxJanuary 28, 2010 at 5:40 pm #310402iadom

To get at the inner drum you have to split the main cabinet in half, remove all of the connecting hoses, wiring, motor, concrete weights, suspension units, suspension springs etc. Then you have to physically lift the whole of the drum assembly out of the machine.
It is in no way a simple DIY job.
I’m from Lancashire so I don’t get involved with things on the ‘Dark Side’ of the Pennines. 😉 :rolls: 😆
If you cannot fish it out from between the inner and outer drum at the front then you could always try our ‘find an engineer’ link at the bottom of this post.

Thanks Iadom that doesnt sound like a DIY job. You said if i can’t get it from the front. How would i do this i presume take the rubber seal off ??????
Thanks again Jane xxxxJanuary 28, 2010 at 6:53 pm #310404iadom

No, if you can rig up some sort of magnet then you slide it down the front of the inner drum, between the drum and the seal.
A large screwdriver or other thin flat piece of metal can be used to allow you to lever the inner drum away a tiny amount to allow whatever you use to fish around with a little more room, don’t bend the drum though.

Hi Jane,
I’m not a washer engineer but I have managed to remove foreign objects from the outer drum by removing a paddle and fishing it out through the aperture. Don’t know if your model has removable paddles though.

Good evening Jim :waving:

Not possible on this machine, the object gets stuck at the front on Zanussi machines, unless it is a very small, thin or flat object it will not pass under the drum.
To quote the Oldham Tinkers from their song Owdham Edge.
