ParticipantI have just been told by Zanussi that the door handle kit I require to repair a customers machine is obsolete… The m/c is just 6 years old! I require the door latch plate which comes in a door handle kit 50275591001 for a WJD1257S 914601416 serial date code is 336.
I have told already told my customer it is not repairable and they are making arrangements to change the machine, the reason for my post is how long do they have to keep spares available for? When I spoke to the nice lady at AEG she said 10 years and put me through to customer care at Zanussi.. The not so nice lady at Zanussi said 6 years tuff shit! well virtually. Can anybody tell me how long they are legally obliged to have spares available?
Regards Oscar.

As far as I’m aware there is no legal obligation whatsoever toward manufacturers on the length of time spare parts are available.

White one?? I have managed to put the new machine on hold…. Zanussi never offered a different colour. I am sure a white one would be fine, better than £4/500 for a new machine.
Sorry about putting this in the wrong forum 🙁 just habbit..

Door latch plate? Is that the curved bit with two screw holes and a lens that fits to the cabinet? I’ve got a couple of those (white) in my “general detritus box” ( 😆 ) from kits where they weren’t needed. (Hate throwing stuff away.) Could send you one no charge. Post tomorrow, if you pm me by about 10am.
