    Hello,

My oven seems to be having an issue with its purpose in life! My Smeg electric oven (UK60MFX1) for some reason is completely turning itself off if I set the temp to above 180C. It doesn’t turn off straight away, only after about 10 mins of being warmer than 180C.

I’ve been away for a while and when I got back my girlfriend told me the oven was on the blink. It took me a couple of days to remember that there used to be a little cooling fan which came on shortly after you turned the oven on and remained on after the oven was turned off. This cooling fan isn’t working any more and if probably causing the oven’s circuitry to overheat and temporarily short.

Am I right? If not, what is it?
If I am right, what can I do?
My girlfriend has also decided to have loads of friends round for dinner next weekend so I’ve got my work cut out! 😯

Hope someone out there can help.

    Cheers, Matt. 😀 [/code]

Nearest I can find is the SUK60MFX. This does not have a cooling fan fitted. You are describing a fairly standard overheat/fan not cutting in problem, so please re-check the model number carefully.

Just checked the model number it reads the following:
    Mod UK60MFX1 Type 252 CE 49AQ1174
That’s all I can find model number wise. Hope that helps? 😕

It does have a cooling fan fitted to the top of the oven under the hob. Its either siezed or the device that initialises it is duff. Would suggest checking you can spin the fan by hand first to establish it is not siezed. Power off if removing any panel.
