I have a really old cooker – could be over 20 years old. It has this parafin type smell on it even when switched off and disconnected. Initially I thought it may be old food particles just sitting in there but it smells strong and paraffin like so Im thinking it could be something else. It comes out of all the unsealed parts of the cooker.

I tried to find it and at one point I tipped the bottom of the cooker to look underneath. The bottom of the cooker had a sqaure are in the middle with a kindof yellow soft material if I remember correctly. It may be that the smells emanates from this material. Anyone know this smell is and if its related to this part?

If it is, can I just remove it somehow?

    Thanks

never come across this. Anything that has a smell on a cooker normally looses it when the cooker is heated so most smells only last 2 or 3 weeks from new
