I’m attempting to change a timer on an Electrolux ew1200i, pnc 914674010/01
Can’t work out how to get the timer off. The replacement timer has a thread at the end of the shaft, which makes me think something unscrew, but nothing is budging and as the buttons are no longer available, I don’t want to break anything.
Just ignore me. Found it!
To save anybody else’s embarrassment, take out the blue rubber from around the knob, remove the knob cap, and you’ll get access to the shaft. 7mm nut.
common fault on these older timers is the capacitor on the board providing the power to the electronics
if it goes machine wont move on or reach full spin speed
Wasn’t that this time. When on/off switch was pressed it tripped the electrics. Then the button would not keep down, although light came on, and the machine would just sit there doing nothing.
On inspection, a track was blown on timer and the on/off switch also needed replacing.
It was a heck of a fiddly job, with the two screws holding the timer to the frame seized. The top one was especially tricky as the head was damaged. Not to mention all the brittle plastic everywhere. It nearly defeated me, that one.
