ParticipantIn recent times whenever I have submitted HOT news from the world of whitegoods, it is very often overlooked and published rather belatedly for some reason? 😕
Has the ‘newsdesk team’ gone out to lunch?

KeymasterThe newsdesk team has to reformat it every time and has been asleep for a few hours. 😉
Asides, I missed it. It will be done this morning.

Reformat?…..Is that something I am doing wrong that makes that necessary?

Yep, we almost always have to work on the articles submitted. 😕
When you post a news article you see three boxes to enter text, the Title, Story Text and Extended Text as well as two drop downs for the Topic and Catagory.
The Title is obvious.
Then Topic, again obvious.
The Catagory indexes the story against the subject on a search for related articles. We usually have to do that one. On UKW it generally is only in retlation to a manufacturer catagory.
The Story Text is the lead paragraph, or sometimes two, that appear on the front page. This is the lead-in if you like.
The extended text is the rest of the story, or the body of it, that is seen after you click “read more” from the teaser/taster on the front page.
You need to insert line breaks in HTML which is “
” for each line break, this is the equvilent of hitting retunr once but remember that this is as a text file, it does not auto-format like Word will in respect to paragragh spacing. Therefor to get a line space between paragraghs the easiest way I find is to just insert “” or a double line break, in each blank line that I want. It’s easy to follow and easy to see that I have what I want.
What you do Martin is to give “
br>” at the end of each line then “ br>” on the blank line then another “
” at the start of a paragragh, this in effect gives three blank lines between the paragraghs so we have to fix that. 😉It’s cool, there’s no problem, just that it slows it up sometimes when we’ve got to reformat the stuff.

Lets see if I understand this? Using the Indesit story as a ‘tester’ have I put the line breaks in correctly?
Indesit Company said third quarter 2006 sales were 871 million euros,up 5 percent on third-quarter 2005 sales. Indesit also
reported net profits: 23 million euros, up 127 percent on 2005.
“Today’s results follow on from a series of positive quarterly results,”commented chairman Vittorio Merloni. “This gives us even more
confidence about the challenges facing us in the international competitive arena”.
I hope I’ve got it this time?November 2, 2006 at 12:14 pm #194047kwatt

Nope. 😀
Should be:
Indesit Company said third quarter 2006 sales were 871 million euros,
up 5 percent on third-quarter 2005 sales. Indesit also reported net profits: 23 million euros, up 127 percent on 2005.“Today’s results follow on from a series of positive quarterly results,”
commented chairman Vittorio Merloni. “This gives us even more
confidence about the challenges facing us in the international competitive arena”.There’s only two paragraphs, so only one double line break. 😉
