ParticipantHi you great folks out there!
I usually just read through these pages but now i have to ask a question.
My washer-upper declared himself unable to wash any more so we hunted around for a suitably priced dishwasher. We are saving to buy a house so new was not an option. We managed to get a hardly used BOSCH SMI5072 full-size washer. I managed to plumb it in and set it up OK and we ran its first wash last night fine. However. like every other person we spoke to selling their unwanted electrical stuff, the previous owner didn’t have the manual. (I must be so weird, I have every manual for everything electrical I own 😯 !) I don’t think this matters so much as far as getting it working but it means I have no real idea what NOT to do with it and also I don’t know what to do with the salt bit. This model is the type with the heating element in the base and has a big screwcap on the base, much like that on the Miele we have at work. On our Miele there is a big screw in cylinder which u fill with salt … this doesn’t have that but it does seem to have a little blue float in the cap (to signal when to fill?).
Unscrewing the cap the “reservoir” or whatever is full of water. My question is ….. what do I have to do here?
Also if anyone has any info on this particular model I’d love to know about it, I have hunted high and low and only come up with spare parts so far (handy to know tho!)
Many thanks in advance!

This is the Oz one, I take it. The instruction booklet is still listed; part number 515270. You should be able to order through http://www.bshappliancecare.com – I think it’s a worldwide service.

Oz? Oh wow. I have no idea where it came from (oddly enough I am in Greece) just that the guy was emptying his dad’s house here and didnt want it. We are just glad it works but want to do it any harm but not doing something we should. I am waiting on a reply from Bosch still – hope that is forthcoming.
(I love the pipe quote!)
Cheers
SuePS The full no. is SMI5072/01 if that makes any difference

Oops, yours is the euro version – same part number though.
