    What we want. 😉

I’ve got the survey module up and running, not tested yet but it’s up.

Now, what questions do we want to ask engineers? What do we want insight into?

I’d suggest we start with topics then move to specific questions.

When we do this it will be the largest survey ever conducted on the appliance repairers, possibly the first independent one so we’re breaking new ground here.

    Re: Our Survey Says…

You lot are bl00dy useless. 😉

    Okay…

    Qualifications

Do they have any that relate to the industry?

If the percentages show that the majority do, it shoots down a number of myths and stupid arguments.

    Fudging numbers

Do they alter results to get a FTC call over one that have to return to with parts?

Do they write stuff off that’s to hard?

    Gas

Would stye do it if it was easier or cheaper?

    Refrigeration

    Same as above.

    Tech

If it’s available, do they use it?

    Training

    Do they want it?

If so, how do they want it delivered?

Trust me on this one, I can use this to great effect.

    WTA Member/DASA Member/Interested in either

That should be an interesting percentile.

    How many people employed?

Gives us an idea of reach of the WTA as well as the trade at large, just how big is this industry?

Do they write off stuff because it’s rubbish/hard to get parts/too much hassle?

Just because it’d be great to go to DEFRA and tell them that stuff is binned because the spares and tech support is shote.

There you go, some food for thought now go away and think up some more and have all your questions and the answers you want ready for next week.

Yes, it is a test and yes, punishment will be meted out to those that do not comply. 😉

Hows This? Is this sorta what you mean 😉

Training – more hands on workshop style! knowing the machines inside out. DVD – online demo
ISE & Amica could lead the way.

ISE – Askos move – quality – reliability

Suppliers – why is there such a big price difference spares prices.

Getting new blood into the service, education, promotion, school education on eco stuff getting them interested, starting at the roots!

is there still a need for engineers, are we getting lazy ? is it just guess work? are we just fitters.
Gone are the days of older more mechanical style of repairs when you could strip parts down and fix.
Now more electrical electronics – do engineers know what the components are or do on a pcb, do they change and repair and resolder themselves – would you want to? can we get training – could or would emw or qer offer advice or training?

Charges – average rates freestanding / builtin

Brands engineer steer away from and why myths or legends

Diversity – evolving how to make more money – selling extras

from the news letter- even as a consumer and engineer -interactive appliances, how safe is your information with this technology connected to the internet.

member benefits can we offer more – what would you want?

keeping in touch – sharing information

    Whats in your tool kit?

    Test equipment

What parts do you keep use a lot, can you buy cheaper if in bulk – would or could ukw offer this so engineers can draw from stock?

Think Lawrence does this with machines – buys and has stored at pika pak machines is this something members can do, would do – would it work?

brain hurting now will keep thinking! 😆
