I bought 2 replacement 25W SES oven bulbs from UKW a few days ago, one to replace a faulty bulb, plus a spare. I put the first in and when I switched the oven on, the bulb exploded with a loud flash and bang! The bulb disintegrated into pieces of glass which flew into the oven, as I had not yet replaced the glass cover lens. The pieces of bulb glass are blackened on the inside. I have taken a picture, see link below.

The second bulb works fine. The bulb that exploded has 220V 25W written on the SES part, so it isn’t the wrong voltage. I don’t know if these bulbs are imported and to full UK Safety Standards, but I have never seen a bulb behave this way before, I suspect it had an internal short. This means I am now £2.50(+VAT) worse-off with no spare bulb. Please can I have this bulb replaced? Thanks. Perhaps you can also supply a tin hat with it!

It probably got shook up in transit to be honest.

If you reply to the email created by our online shop I’ll send another one no problem.

I have seen many bulbs do this on first fitting, even a normal house lamp, as you say probably an internal short.
