oventrouble
ParticipantI have a Siemens oven (HB760550F). Suddenly the control knob/selector doesn’t operate correctly and there was a strong electrical burning smell coming from the oven (near the top centre/rhs) . In the “normal oven” position (solid line at top and bottom), which is the first click clockwise, only the top element/resistance would come on. We could operate the oven by “feel” to get the lower element working but couldn’t control the temperature. The oven functions that work are now unrelated to the normal selector positions. I have now removed the oven and the top cover. The part that smells most strongly is the power module. Could this part need replacing or would I have to change the control module instead and hope that the power module is still OK? Obviously looking to solve the problem of controlling functions and the burning smell.

Power module sound likely but whatever it is you should be able to see signs of burning. It maybe a simple component like a relay which could mean the board is repairable

Thanks Dave,
Really appreciate the response.
There is a slight sign of overheating to the outside one of the 3 black oblong shaped blocks (3 in total) on the power board. They are labelled “M” (Make?) then ALE15B09 spule 9v , 703070. Guessing these are relays?. Looks like they slide apart if you slide thin prongs in either side. The block/s are the only parts that smell strongly.
Would be great if replacing one or all 3 of the blocks is possible and of course worked !
Cheers

have looked around and think this one may be in with a good chance
http://uk.farnell.com/oeg-te-connectivi … dp/1891715
9v coil single pole
specs of your original here
https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detai … ND/1680238specs of other one from farnell site. have looked at diagrams and the measurements
seem to stack up ok as the connection have to be in the correct place. Diagram on farnell shows an extra terminal on the diagram as they do a change over version which has an extra contact so this should no be on this versioncant promise 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} but if it were me I would order and see what came as they are cheap enough
