ParticipantI have a SMEG dual fuel cooker (SUK81MFX5) and since yesterday the oven fan has been running continuously.
Its not the cooling fan because that cuts in and out as it should and is much noisier.
The only way to turn it off is to put the oven in Auto.
I have a feeling its a faulty oven selector switch.
Any other ideas before I start dismantling?Mike

I suspect that you will be correct and it’ll be the switch, the only other thing to check first is the fan initiation thermostat which, if locked on would do the same I think.
The switch is this one:

The thermostat one of these two:

Thank you for such a fast response.
Why would the oven fan have a thermostat, isn’t it either on or off depending on the chosen oven function?Mike

The small thermostats there control the cooling fan, switching it on or off as required.
You can get the general gist of how they operate from the following:

So if the cooling fan is working ok, and its the separate oven fan (the one for air circulation) that’s faulty, it wont be a thermostat.
Any other ideas for the air circulation fan?

Correct.
You have two fan motors, the cooling fan and the oven fan motor.
Cooling fan cools the space around the cavity, oven fan motor circulates the air within the cavity.
The oven fan motor should run continually whilst in a fan oven or fan grilling mode.

So the problem is that the oven fan motor is running continuously, in any mode or when the oven is off. Only putting the oven in Auto stops it.
So, Selector Switch ??? any other possibilities?

if it’s the oven fan motor the selector switch would be the first thing to look at, 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} chance that it’s arced and got a constant live.

On my AEG oven – the cooling fan is continuously running, can only switch it off by turning mains off – could it be as simple as replacing the ZN limitor which is ‘in line’ to the cooling fan?
